Two Weddings

Not every bride gets to wear their gown twice. That’s my current plan though. We planned our August wedding with the hopes that my dad would be healthy enough to travel. It has become increasingly less likely as his health has continued to decline. As a result, we are having a much simpler, sooner ceremony near him while still going ahead with the plans for August.

Since it will be immediate family only we don’t need to worry about proper invitations or RSVPs. We’ve already gotten volunteers to help make a bouquet, cake, and take pictures. This makes the planning easier. Making it more difficult is not knowing if my dad will be in the hospital or at the home, so we’re planning for either.

While it’s more work now, it’s not much more. And I get to be a bride twice. :-)

Success!

Sunday morning my sister, fiancee and I got up early for a 9am cake tasting. After getting our sugar levels up we joined some friends for blini before taking on the rest of our wedding-centric day.

Two bridesmaids and a mother-of-the-groom later we were knee-deep in Wedding. We started with showing the ladies our ceremony and reception sites. Then we took off for the dresses while Jordan returned some rejected invitations. Having previously narrowed down the selection to nine dresses it didn’t take long for the girls to try them all on. Jordan’s mom offered her opinion on the dresses and while the girls changed we talked veils and flower girl dresses. In the end, we decided that as long as the last bridesmaid liked it we had our dress, so the ladies were measured and we met up with Jordan for dinner. After dinner we looked at shoes and tiaras.

While we didn’t decide on much and didn’t purchase anything I think that overall we made some good progress.
