I’ve been thinking today about how easy it is to stress about little things and how seldom it matters, especially with regards to weddings. Nobody remembers the flowers you flew in because they were out of season or any of the other little details unless they’re memorable for being ridiculous. Here are some of my memories from past weddings:
- The bride using a sippy cup for toasts
- The groom and some fraternity brothers doing a choreographed dance
- Watching the bride walk down the aisle
- An amazing cake made by the bride’s father
- Being creative in getting the bride and groom to kiss since there were no bells and plastic utensils
- A flower girl running down the aisle toward her daddy
- Creative music choices at the ceremony
- The bride doing a short dance during the ceremony
I’m sure I could go on, but I feel my point has been made. The things that people remember are often the moments that make the wedding special and unique and not the favors, napkins, or flowers. So what are some of your favorite wedding memories?

Yesterday Jordan and I went to the park where we spent part of our first date. We met up with our fantastic photographer, Liz, for a wonderful shoot. She got some really good posed pictures as well as some shots that really capture who we are as a couple. It makes me even more excited for the wedding (if that’s even possible at this point).

A while back my bridesmaids all ordered their dresses. I had contacted Celebration Bridal a few times and even left a few messages to make sure they knew there would only be two bridesmaids ordering from them. Yesterday they called me. Wanting to get the dresses ordered soon but they hadn’t heard from the third bridesmaid yet. Waiting for one bridesmaid that I said early on was not ordering from them! Then they asked if I’d decided on the colors. *headdesk*
If the dresses are not in on or before July 1 I will march in there and heads will roll. The dresses were *hopefully* ordered first thing this morning. I think I’ll call now and make sure.

One of my dear friends insisted on making our wedding invites, which I was definitely in favor of. As soon as we got her the basics she made a prototype and it went on from there. Last night she turned them over to us, relieved to be done.
Now they’re sitting on the coffee table in a reusable Target bag and Jordan wants them addressed and ready to send by the end of the weekend. Had he said something before we got the invites I would have probably said “no problem!” but talk about intimidating! The invites nearly fill the bag and I don’t think we have all the addresses we need yet. Not to mention we haven’t gotten stamps. Good thing this is the last week of classes!

Last night I wandered past the shoes at J.C. Penny and happened upon a pair of Decree brown shoes that looked about right for the bridesmaids. I immediately called my sister for a second opinion because they were on sale and I figured they wouldn’t be around long. We’re pretty sure it’s a close-out sale but she found a picture online and emailed the others. I followed up the email with phone calls and all the girls were in. The store had all the sizes but one.
My sister just went to a store by her and they have all the sizes we need. She’s picking them up and bonus! she’s in Minnesota where there’s no tax on clothing. So my bridesmaids have shoes and we don’t have to figure out taxes for getting my sister paid back.
