Music to my ears

July 31, 2009 by Roxy

As I mentioned briefly in my previous post, last night we went to meet with Tom Nothnagle, a guitarist, about ceremony music. We entered a room filled with nearly fifty guitars (including a 12-string), banjos, mandolins, and even a ukulele or three! He didn’t know most of the songs we were interested in having played, but he looked them up on YouTube and after listening a while would start to play along! I can not tell you how excited I am to have him playing at our ceremony. I feel like there’s at least one thing I know I don’t have to worry about now.

30 Days and Counting

I had a bit of a working vacation and we’ve gotten some more wedding planning out of the way. The veil is still coming along, the pies are ordered, the spa appointments are set, the officiant has been paid, we found a new jeweler, we’re meeting with a guitarist tonight, and the dresses have finally come in!

Now for the bad news: The two dresses we’ve been waiting on are supposed to be brown with a pink sash, just like the two that were ordered from different shops and came in on time. Yesterday I was sent a picture of one of the dresses Celebration Bridal Shoppe ordered. Below, a side-by-side comparison.

Correct DressA very pink dress

So now I’m working on resolving that problem on top of everything else I still have to get done! It’s too late to have correct dresses sent out and that is far to much pink to put up with, so we’re searching for an alternative at this point.

Lots of Little Things

While I haven’t updated in a while we have been busy. Nothing major, but lots of little things have been talked about, decided, ordered, etc. The veil is a work in progress and the reception decorations are being ordered. We’ve decided to do pie and just have to pick flavors and order. The list goes on and yet there is still so much to do!

When I went to order my wedding band from the jeweler we planned to use we got a bit of a surprise. The cases were empty and the signs on the windows/door were gone! A quick stop at the shop next door led to an explanation. Our jewler got a new job in insurance. How odd! In any case, the ring hadn’t been ordered yet so we’re patronizing someone else instead.

This weekend we’re off to Michigan for a bit of vacation, a wedding shower, and a bit of family fun. I’ll be gone for a week and probably won’t be making any updates during that time, but when I get back I’ll try and update more regularly as we enter the final month of planning.
